Creating a calendar template in WPS Spreadsheet is a practical way to organize your schedule, track appointments, and manage deadlines efficiently.
You can customize your calendar to fit daily, weekly, or yearly planning needs, all within WPS Spreadsheet’s intuitive interface that requires no advanced expertise.
The first step is to open WPS Spreadsheet and initialize a new, blank document to serve as your calendar canvas.
Choose the structure that suits your needs: a classic monthly format with seven columns for weekdays and rows for each week, or experiment with alternative layouts.
Start by labeling the first row with the days of the week.
Enter "Sunday" in A1, "Monday" in B1, and proceed sequentially until "Saturday" appears in G1.
Apply the Merge & Center function to combine cells A1 through G1 into one unified header for your calendar title.
After selecting A1 through G1, open the context menu, choose Format Cells, go to the Alignment tab, and activate the "Center Across Selection" option.
In the combined header cell, type the full month and year you’re designing, like "March 2024" or "October 2023."
Find out what weekday corresponds to the 1st of your selected month.
When the first day of the month lands on Sunday, your first date entry goes into cell A2.
If it falls on a different day, skip the appropriate number of cells to align the first day correctly.
Type "1" into the appropriate starting cell, then drag the fill handle (the small square at the bottom-right corner of the selected cell) to auto-fill the next six consecutive dates.
After completing the first row of seven dates, proceed to the following row to input the next set of days.
For precise date sequencing, once you’ve entered the first date, right-click on it, choose Fill → Series, and configure the settings accordingly.
In the Series dialog box, choose "Columns" for the Series in field, "Date" as the Type, and "Day" as the Date unit, then confirm with OK.
Once all dates are filled, adjust the column width and row height to make the cells square and visually balanced.
Select the entire date range, right-click, select Row Height and set it to 30, then repeat for Column Width using the same value.
Draw borders around all the date cells to establish clear divisions between individual days.
Select the entire date range, go to the Border tool on the toolbar, and choose All Borders.
Make the weekday headers stand out by bolding the text and adding a shaded background.
Select the row with Sunday through Saturday, then use the Font and Fill Color tools to make them stand out.
For greater prominence, select the merged header cell and increase its font size while keeping the text bold.
For holidays or important events, simply click into the corresponding date cell and type the event name.
Consider using color coding to differentiate types of events—assign red for deadlines, blue for appointments, and green for personal days.
To make your calendar reusable, save the file as a template.
Open the Save As dialog, choose "Template" from the file type options, and give your file a clear label such as "Annual Calendar Template."
With this template saved, future updates require only changing the month
Build separate tabs for each month and link them to a central dashboard or index sheet for easy switching.
Finally, consider linking your calendar to other tools.
Export your calendar as a PDF document for offline use or email sharing, or leverage WPS Cloud to access it from any device.
Make it a habit to update events as they arise and perform a weekly audit to ensure nothing slips through the cracks.
This method turns WPS Spreadsheet into a powerful, customizable planner that grows with your personal or professional demands.
