Baldur's Gate 3 will have one of the most complex combat systems in the RPG genre on release thanks, in part, to it being based on the Fifth Edition of Dungeons and Dragons ' ruleset. Though there are some major changes to adapt the formula to a video game, most strategies work in Baldur's Gate 3 as they do in the TTRPG – including the benefits of a well-rounded party.

At level six, Conjuration Wizards learn "Benign Transposition: Teleport," allowing them to teleport to any unoccupied space within 9m or swap positions with an ally in that range. This can be good for getting the Wizard out of dangerous situations and putting a tankier ally in range of dangerous foes. Level 10 has Conjuration Wizards learn "Focused Conjuration." This prevents the Wizard's Concentration from being broken when concentrating on Conjuration Spells, which would be fantastic for preventing a lucky archer from canceling their summons if summons required concentration the way they do in the tabletop game. As this isn't the case for most summons in the game, this tends to be extremely niche.

This table displays the best Wizard build spells you should have equipped and in your Spellbook at these level brackets, whether from choices made while leveling or by learning them from a Scroll. These abilities synergize well with the Evocation Wizard build playstyle and mostly include straight-up damaging spells, ways to CC and debuff enemies, and spells that alter the environment to set up powerful elemental combos or provide a barrier against attacks.

Though many classes have a lot of leveling choices, as a melee class, this BG3 Fighter build doesn't have a lot of choices to make while leveling. In fact, at Level 2, Level 5, and Level 9, you won't have a major choice to make at all. However, Fighters can get more Feats than most other classes, and your Battle Maneuvers grant this best BG3 Fighter Build impactful abilities without a spellbook.

Instead, the game focuses on the Fatebinder, a high-ranking member in a tyrant's legion who has to restore order and balance to the world after this evil emperor has conquered the world this game is based on. This makes for an interesting moral dilemma, with players essentially being villains who are enforcing the demands of a heinous lea

After reaching Act 3, Oath of Ancients Paladins can make use of many of the same options as the Vengeance Paladin, though they should probably stick with the Hellrider's Pride Gauntlets and Whispering Promise Ring combo to make the most of their healing. Wapira's Crown starts to fall off by the endgame, so this is a good time to swap it for either the Grymskull Helmet (if you picked it up in Act 1/Act 2), the Steel Watcher Helmet (found in the Steel Watch Foundry in Act 3, Provides Darkvision and Advantage on Constitution Saving Throws), or even Sarevok's Horned Helm (Defeat Sarevok at the Murder Tribunal.)

The tabletop format of Dungeons & Dragons might seem far removed from the digital medium that is video gaming, but that dividing line becomes thinner and thinner as time goes on. In fact, playing D&D digitally has been a growing trend for quite some time, whether by humble, low-tech methods such as play-by-post or utilizing mediums such as Skype or ROLL20 to get a much-need roleplaying fix without all the hassle of organizing a live, in-person sess

Updated April 6, 2025 by Erik Petrovich : Patch 8 for Baldur's Gate 3 is right around the corner, and though lots of the new subclasses seem like a lot of fun to play, the base game still offers some very powerful options for the best Wizard build in BG3. The Evocation Wizard is still the best Wizard build in BG3 – but that could change with the release of Patch 8. Until then, stick with this Evocation Wizard guide to learn the best Wizard build tips, what makes Evocation such a powerful subclass for the Wizard, and other information that will help you min-max your Wizard character. This Wizard build guide has been updated to add in-game flavor descriptions of the class and subclass, as well as a new small section with the best consumables for the Wizard, including both potions and elixirs, in the Equipment section.

This section covers the best equipment for Evocation Wizards in BG3 across all three Acts. Some pieces from early Acts may still be powerful in later ones, though, and will remain equipped through several Acts.

Even after all the strides that Bethesda has taken in the RPG genre, some people still argue that Morrowind is one of their finest and most Immersive Rpg horror titles by far. The unwavering focus on role-playing coupled with a massive world that players can get lost in makes for a truly great t

The Necromancy School is excellent on its own, but can also benefit greatly from mixing in the Circle of Spores Druid. With the ability to raise powerful undead using Wizard Spells and weaker cannon fodder as a reaction using Spore Druid, players can quickly magic up a small army once enemies start dying. Whether multiclassing or not, players should pick up the Necromancy of Thay book in Act 1 and unlock its secrets. This will eventually earn players a powerful new ability, summoning a squad of Ghouls to assist them once per long rest.
